From New York to California, every dot tells a story…
George spent his early childhood in Brooklyn, New York but has been a Southern Californian ever since. He’s a self-taught artist inspired by his father’s drawings that he did just for fun at his neighborhood hardware store and machine shop. After decades in law, publishing and tech, he’s finally decided to dedicate his imagination, and the rest of his life, to painting full time.
His style has evolved over the years from highly complex crowd scenes and landscapes to free-flowing pointillism. Rather than brushes, he began using toothpicks to paint in detail, but now uses metal embossing tools which allows him even more versatility and control. All of his paintings are acrylic on canvas.
His art has won several prestigious awards including Best in Show at the State Bar California Art Show at the San Diego Convention Center as well as Best Painting in the Fall 2019 Beverly Hills Affair in the Park Art Show.
George paints for mainly two reasons: it acts almost like a meditative state where he can focus on the solace and beauty surrounding him in an often chaotic world. And, according to many of his patrons, his pieces evoke only good memories of people, places and events, frozen in time for them to enjoy.
